MEET THE TEAM BIOS:
S. David & Debby
Plummer
OWNERS
Married in November 1970, David & Debby
Plummer started their life together. While
in Graduate School Mr. Plummer wrote a Masters
Thesis on the Equine Industry. After graduation,
David & Debby agreed that with their
knowledge and passion for the horse business,
that was their future. In 1973, they purchased
their first horse. From that time to this,
Mr. Plummer has been one of the nation’s
leading businessmen in the horse industry.
Debby was a city gal who never even owned
a pet when she married David. Debby has been
involved in most aspects of the horse business.
Weighing 110 lbs. she helped break and gallop
their first race horses. Debby was the stallion
handler the first year they stood stallions;
she cleaned stalls, fed horses and hauled
horses around the nation. For 25 years she
was the Chief Financial Officer of their
business. The Plummer Family has built one
of the most successful horse businesses in
the world. All five children are involved
in some aspect of their horse business, and
the Plummer family now includes 13 grandchildren. |

Shane D. Plummer
PRESIDENT

Shane D. Plummer is a second-generation horseman.
Growing up in the industry, he has been involved
in nearly all aspects. Shane has been in many
leadership positions from athletic, scholastic,
ecclesiastical and professional all of his life.
Shane is an Eagle Scout and has received a half-dozen
National Academic awards throughout his educational
career. After high school, Shane served two years
as a missionary in Taiwan, Republic of China.
He then graduated from the University of Utah
with a BS in Chinese and a minor in Business.
Shane has a deep passion for the horse business
and has a keen understanding of its economics.
He has extensive knowledge in genetics and mating
selection as related to breeding due to his other
passion, Racing Pigeons. Shane married his high
school sweetheart, Jane and they have three
children.

Nick Plummer
GENERAL MANAGER

Nick has over 30 years of experience in the horse
business working with many industry leaders.
He has managed breeding farms in Utah, Idaho,
California and Kentucky. He has managed and provided
expertise with stallions, breeding sheds, broodmares,
foal development, horse training, racing, mating
suggestions, and directing public and private
sales and acquisitions. He has been involved
with embryo transfers since 1987. Nick travels
to numerous farms in many different states, overseeing
horse care, performing conformation, evaluation,
and selecting the mares to be purchased. Nick
loves to be with the horses and have “hands
on” involvement. Nick and his wife, Jackie,
have 4 children and reside in Farmington, Utah.

Jennifer Stahle
VICE PRESIDENT

Jennifer Stahle has been around horses all her
life. She decided to go to work full-time in
the family business in 1990, and has loved it
ever since. Jennifer has been involved in all
aspects of the business including registration
of foals, event coordination and planning, advertising,
hauling horses, veterinarian technician (including
breeding/artificially inseminating mares), A/P,
A/R, and more. For the last six consecutive years,
Jennifer has planned and organized an annual
Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Conference.
Both of these annual conferences were 4-day events
with up to 400 attendees. And, for the last two
consecutive years, Jennifer has planned and organized
10 to 14 conferences and seminars per year around
the U.S. With 16 years of experience, she is
a great asset to Buffalo Ranch. She and her husband
Clark, have four beautiful children and live
in Kaysville, Utah.

Scott D. Plummer
Texas Ranch Manager

Scott D. Plummer is a second-generation horseman.
He has grown up in the horse industry and has
been involved in nearly all aspects. Scott has
done internships at Rood & Riddle Veterinary
Hospital and Viking Stud in Lexington, KY. While
working at Blue Blood Farm, Scott worked daily
with weanlings and yearlings, introducing them
to the halter and preparing them for sales. Scott
has attended numerous short courses on Animal
Science at the Colorado State University Equine
Department. He managed Hawks Nest Ranch for two
years, which was home to over 30 broodmares.
Scott has several years of experience collecting
and managing stallions. Scott married his wife,
Heather, in November of 1998. They have two beautiful
daughters.

Dr. John Knowles, DVM, MS
RESIDENT REPRODUCTIVE VETERINARIAN

Dr. Knowles has been married to his wife, Kami,
for over 20 years and they have six children.
He received his BS in Animal Science, DVM and
MS in Equine Reproduction from Colorado State
University where he later worked under Dr. Ed
Squires overseeing the breeding and embryo transfer
program. He left CSU to join the faculty at Brigham
Young University where he was director of the
Horse Program, taught in the Veterinary Technology
program and mentored graduate student research.
Dr. Knowles was resident veterinarian at Western
States Ranches MillionHeir Program before joining
the Buffalo Ranch Team in November of 2003. He
has performed nearly 2,000 successful embryo
transfers during his career.

Greg Smith
TRAINER

Greg Smith grew up on a large ranch in central
Idaho with four brothers. The ranch was a long
way from anywhere and the boys attended a one-room
schoolhouse until 6th Grade. After high school,
Greg attended college for a short time but his
love for horses brought him back. After playing
with reiners, cow horses and more, Greg settled
on cutters. He has now been hard at it for 26
years. Over time, Greg has been a finalist in
almost all major events. Greg has won nearly
$1 Million in the cutting pen. He has always
enjoyed helping Non Pros and many have had great
success thanks to him. Most of Greg’s time
has been spent in Idaho with his family of five.
Greg and his wife Chris have 3 children, Ashley
19, Kade 16, and Sadee 10. The entire family
is very actively involved in the horse industry.
Greg joined the Buffalo Ranch team in June of
2005.

G. Andrew Christensen
ASSISTANT TRAINER
Andy Christensen is from American Fork, Utah, where he was raised around horses,
grew to love the industry and competed in rodeo programs. After graduation, he
attended Ricks College in Idaho where he studied Animal Science. Andy has worked
in the horse training industry since 1998. He lives in Lehi, Utah, with his wife
Brandy and new daughter Ashlyn.

Tiffany DeMarco
VETERINARY ASSISTANT
This is Tiffany DeMarco’s
third year with Buffalo Ranch. She has always
had a love for horses and dreamed of working
with them. She purchased her first horse at
age twelve and has been involved since then.
During her junior year of high school, she
interned with a reiner who taught her many
techniques. After graduating early, at the
end of her junior year, she continued her internship
and even began training two-year-olds on her
own. While working one of these horses at a
local arena, she was approached and recruited
by a cutting horse trainer. This began her
experience with Buffalo Ranch. Her first position
with the ranch included starting two-year-olds,
loping horses, and traveling for shows. As
she became more experienced, yearlings, weanlings,
and sale prep were put in her care. When breeding
season began, and the vets needed assistance,
she eagerly jumped at the opportunity to expand
her knowledge. She fell in love with the position
and admires her successful co-workers. She
has been there ever since and looks forward
to many more years.

Kim Gardner
VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Kim Gardner is the Equine Reproductive Technician
for Buffalo Ranch. She received her BS at
Brigham Young University in Animal Science,
with an emphasis in Veterinary Technology.
She also received her MS at Brigham Young
University in Animal Science with an emphasis
in Nutrition. Following her Masters she was
employed by BYU as the head-riding instructor
in the Equitation program. She was the coach
for the Intercollegiate Horse Show team,
earning the honor of top Hunt Seat coach
for the region. She has assisted Dr. Knowles
in breeding horses for the last ten years.
Kim joined the Buffalo Ranch Team in November
of 2003.

Johnny Knowles
VETERINARY ASSISTANT
John E. Knowles, III has spent
his whole life around horses. He has worked
along side his father since he was very young.
John has been with Buffalo Ranch for two and
a half years as Veterinary Assistant. He assists
in the breeding and collection of stallions,
transportation of cooled and frozen semen,
embryos, and the hauling of horses. He graduated
from High School with High Honors, receiving
numerous National Academic Awards, and is an
Eagle Scout. He has a great knowledge of horses
and enjoys being around them. John is currently
attending Weber State University in the pursuit
of a career in medicine. |

Johnny Moreno
TEXAS RANCH MANAGER
Johnny Moreno has been with Buffalo Ranch for twenty-four years. He has been
and still is today, a valued member of the team. Johnny has been involved in
all aspects of operations. His experience and expertise help operations run smoothly
and efficiently.

Nate Plummer
MARKETING

Nate Plummer was literally raised in the horse business. Living on the farm gave
Nate the opportunity to have hands on experience from the time he could walk.
Nate is an Eagle Scout, graduated High School with High Honors, was Vice President
of the high school Marketing Club, and involved in the Accounting Club. Nate
then attended Utah State University, where he played on a USU co-ed softball
team, and later graduated with a dual major with degrees in both English and
Business Administration, also with a minor in Multi-Media Production. Nate is
a published writer and photographer. Nate enjoys working with what he loves,
family and horses.

Bernardo Sandoval
STALLION HANDLER
Bernardo Sandoval has been with Buffalo Ranch for over fifteen years. Bernardo
was born and raised on a ranch, and began riding at an early age. He has known
horses all his life. Bernardo has worked extensively with stallions, mares, yearlings,
and babies. Bernardo is also involved in personnel management.

Carol Shrives
OFFICE MANAGER

Carol Shrives has an Executive Assistant/Office Manager degree from Western Business
University in Portland, Oregon and during her career she has worked in the private
as well as the public sector. Carol is a life-long horse enthusiast that started
working in the horse industry in 2001. Carol and her husband Dave have two sons
and one granddaughter.

Darlene Rada
ACCOUNTING

Darlene Rada has worked in Accounting for sixteen years, with experience in HR,
payroll, and A/R, A/P. She has two years experience working in the horse industry,
and looks forward to many more. Darlene and her husband Bert have four children,
four grandchildren, and two dogs. She enjoys sports, snow skiing and water skiing.

Kelly Wilkinson
RECEPTIONIST

Kelly Wilkinson has worked in the Communications/Advertising field for 24 years.
She has always been a horse lover and has enjoyed working for the last year at
the ranch around these beautiful animals. Kelly and her husband Jody, have two
daughters. Kelly and her family are huge soccer fans and in their free time,
they all support each other on the playing field. |
