SDP BlogJuly11

Oxford defines outlier as: “a person or thing situated away or detached from the main body or system.” In the world of cow horses, there has been three dominant sire lines over the past 10 years – High Brow Cat, Dual Rey and Peptoboonsmal. For the past two breeding seasons, we have been honored to stand one of the great sires of the industry, and by the numbers, he is a true outlier at stud!

Light N Lena is a great sire. Statistically, he is in elite company of all-time great sires. The lifetime statistics through the end of 2015 show Light N Lena high up on the list of all-time leading sires with 40 or more performers by average:

High Brow Cat, $43,412
Docs Stylish Oak, $39,424
Freckles Merada, $37,722
San Tule Freckles, $35,408
CD Royal, $34,148
LIGHT N LENA, $31,579
Dual Pep, $31,155
Dual Rey, $30,663
Peptoboonsamal, $29,220
Smart Little Lena, $29,220
Metallic Cat, $24,845

Among 2015 leading sires, there were only two sires with higher average earnings per performer (40 minimum) than LIGHT N LENA. They were CD Royal and the greatest of all-time, High Brow Cat!

During the month of June, Light N Lena’s offspring had some tremendous success.
